Dance Workshop, Pretty Stars, and Flying Servicmen

This past weekend was LOTS of fun. I went to my very first swing dance workshop in SA. Road trip! Miss ASQ and Mr. EAN came long too as we met up with other dancers around the state, including Mr. Houston-Waco Dancer. We danced our feet off the entire weekend. Friday night was the casual welcome dance where we met some people. But the real fun happened on Saturday. After dancing with strange men all day, we hit the shower and got fancied up for the big Saturday night dance with a live band! Since they were supporting us swing dancers, we thanked The Liberty Bar for hosting us by dining with them.

It was a jam-packed little room with barely enough space to dance. Fun! But slightly claustrophobic! We danced until our legs fell off and hit the bed soundly! The next morning we took it leisurely and enjoyed the slower morning before heading back to the workshop for four more hours of classes! Loved it!

That evening, we came back and went to dinner at La Fonda on Main. I just remember how good this was last time. And Aunt S and Uncle P joined us too!! YAY!!

 I think I ordered the wrong lemonade because my drink doesn't look the same. While it tasted good, it was as great as the one last time. Next time, I'll remember!

That night I crashed in my own bed and somehow managed to get up on time for work. However, that night I came home and made over 3 dozen cookies in the shape of stars for my work's 'ribbon cutting' ceremony. Don't they look pretty!

Then on Thursday night, I made three MORE dozen sugar cookies that turned out orange but NOT the shape of stars. Why?

Nothing like having a military man come visit for lunch! So glad to see him and spend a little bit of time with him!

Friends, Games, and Dancing

Last week I met up with Miss Means Business Belton at our 'usual' spot of McA's before she becomes Mrs.! So  excited for her and great to visit with her of course. 

After leaving her, I headed back north to head the last time those little 'farmers' come visit us in the Ferrell Center.  It was a party not just because famous people sang, but because someone got 'whooped'!  Sic'em!!

So much fun!  So glad I did it because it was a fairly nice evening that  too terribly cold.  YAY!  So happy!

Friends, Dancing, and Family

As I wrote last week, I had a fabulous weekend!  It all kicked off Thursday night with dinner with Miss Dedicated Lufkin Bear.  Loved hanging out with her!

 For some reason, my pictures have gotten out of order, but whatever.  On Saturday, my grandmother had a 'small, intimate' family gathering [of about 50+ people]- only blood related people were invited.  Here are the yummy '90' cookies my mom made

 The entire first cousins on my dad's side from both his sides are included.  All in the correct family set.

 Skipping back to Friday night.  I had a wonderful benefactor that allowed me and Miss ASQ to attend the Rotary Club's Talitha Kohum Fundraiser, "Dancing With the Stars of Waco."  It was special for us because out of the six couples, we personally knew two of the 'pros!'  They were our very own Miss SSW and Mr. EAN!  Sic'em!  So, we got all fancied up, rubbed elbows with the rich, all the while knowing the famous!  Here's Miss ASQ and I before the event.

 I'd show you  my pics, but I didn't take very good ones.  The best ones are somewhat found on facebook and wacotrib.com.  Best part was - our girl Miss SSW won!!  YES!!  So proud of her!

Fun Filled Friday

It all started early Friday morning with the radio. So I've been listening to Air1 for th past eight years and have heard an assortment of dj's. So, they asked for listeners to call in with suggestions for one of the dj's to do as he turned 30 Saturday since lots of people create lists of things to accomplish before they turn a decade older. Since I'm currently working on my list, I decided to give them a few suggestions he could do. I finally got through and they loved my suggestion of 7 or 30 pushups as it could be done in studio. Well, they recorded it and ended up playing it on the air. Did I mention this is a NATIONAL radio station? Um, yeah. Crazy! I texted my mom right after I hung up as I had figured they were recording it to be played back later. About five minutes after warning my mom in OK, it came on and she heard me. So cool!

Then at my local professional organizational meeting, I was formally nominated for the Executive Board. It sounds fancier than I think it is. Regardless, it'll be great for experience and resume booster if I actually get elected!

The week started off with my mother's birthday! Then on Friday, generous donors allowed Miss ASQ and I attend DWTS of Waco fundraiser. Mr. EAN and Miss SSW were two of the six 'pros' tapped for the benefit.

And Miss SSW and her 'star' of the former basketball team. And yes, that's their real height, there's over two feet of difference. As I told one person, I felt rich rubbing elbows with these people and knew the famous as they were my friends! So proud of them representing WSDS! AND Miss SSW and her star won it all!
